Keri-Lyn Dudgeon, Kinesiologist

Keri-Lyn Dudgeon

I graduated from the University of Guelph in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics.  Incorporated as part of my degree was a minor in biomedical science, as well as an emphasis in nutritional science.

My interest in the health field goes as far back as I remember.  The curriculum of my degree allowed for streamlining in many different career options.  My general interests were in medicine, pathology/forensics, and sports medicine.  The courses I studied included anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, gait, orthotics and prosthetics, pathology, pharmacology and nutrition.

Through a variety of personal experiences with sports injuries throughout my teenage years there was always a strong interest in this direction.  A lot of my injuries led to surgery.  It is through my education and experience that in hindsight I now realize that my surgeries could have been prevented had I taken a more corrective and preventative approach.  This is where my compassion and understanding aids me in helping others with problems and help them in preventing new ones.

I have been working in the Chiropractic field for 6 years, specializing in the gait analysis and orthotics for approximately 4 of those years.  Along with the gait analysis and orthotics I spend a lot of my time educating patients about the importance of their whole body when we look at a problem.  I spend a lot of one-on-one time educating on the importance of spinal health to overall well being.  Our approach at this clinic is very holistic in nature.  We look at the whole body not just the parts.  My kinetics background of how the foot relates to the knee, the knee relates to the hip and low back allows for a complete understanding of the entire body, and how we can treat and correct problems and prevent new ones.

I work with all types of injuries stemming from the feet or foundation:

I have achieved great success with a variety of these complaints over the years. It is very rewarding to help runners reach their goals whether it be 1 km or a marathon/triathlon - pain free. It is definitely a collaborative effort in the clinic, which allows for our great success stories. The chiropractic care and treatment as well as the massage therapists' approach to healing and prevention are also a big part of our success. But most of all it is up to the patients to follow our advice and to complete their advised stretching and strengthening and follow treatment protocols which allows for them to reach their goals. The patients themselves play a huge role in their well being.

My philosophy is that if there is an activity you want to participate in or would like to get back into again, then let's look at all the ways we can get you back to that activity.  It is about achieving the quality of life you desire.  My goal is to help you achieve your goals and help provide you with a healthier life, injury free.
