Danielle Pratt, Registered Massage Therapist

While receiving prenatal massage at the Back to Health Wellness Center , Danielle decided that she would change her career path. She returned to school to study massage therapy graduating with honours from the 3 year program in 2007. While studying at Algonquin, Danielle gained experience treating sports injuries at the Athletic Center at Algonquin College , giving pre- and post- natal as well as infant massage at the maternity ward of the Ottawa Hospital , and treating seniors in a nursing home. She also treated clients with scars at a scars clinic to help increase mobility and reduce edema around the scars. Danielle also received additional training in Active Release Technique for the upper and lower extremities as well as prenatal massage.
She completed the provincial examinations with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) in 2007, becoming a registered massage therapist. She is also a member of the Ontario Massage Therapists Association (OMTA).
Treatments with Danielle range from relaxation massages to treatments for specific problems such as tendonitis, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction and postural imbalances. A wide variety of massage techniques are incorporated into the treatments, including “Swedish” massage techniques, Active Release Technique (ART), joint mobilizations and facial techniques. Client education for remedial exercise, hydrotherapy and breathing techniques are another important part of client care. Danielle's has a client focused treatment approach. She believes the best results are attained by involving the client in their treatments, treatment plans and homecare. She welcomes client feedback which helps her in guiding her treatment focus.
